Cardiologist Abinet Ashine, MD, has joined Samaritan Heart & Vascular Institute.

Ashine earned a medical degree at Jimma University Medical Center in Jimma, Ethiopia. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey and a cardiovascular medicine fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is board certified in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and internal medicine.

He provides a full range of cardiology services for patients by referral in Corvallis, Lincoln City and Newport, and specializes in transesophageal echocardiography – a test that uses sound waves to create high-quality moving pictures of the heart and blood vessels, and diagnostic cardiac catheterization.

“I like to connect with patients at a personal level to improve their cardiovascular health,” Ashine said. “I’m looking forward to working with the Samaritan cardiology group.”

Samaritan Heart & Vascular Institute care providers are also looking forward to working with Ashine.

“We are excited to have Dr. Ashine join us,” said Cardiologist Matthew Lindberg, MD, medical director of Samaritan Heart & Vascular Institute.  “Not only is he a wonderful person, but he brings a unique skillset of cardiac imaging expertise with MRI that will help expand our diagnostic abilities in the valley.”

In his free time, Ashine enjoys spending time with his wife and children, hiking, travelling and running. “We love the scenic beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and we are outdoors people,” he said.

Samaritan Heart & Vascular Institute provides a wide range of advanced cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery and electrophysiology services, with clinics in Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Lincoln City and Newport, and also serves patients from Eugene, Salem and neighboring areas.
