New physician joins Sweet Home Family Medicine

By Ian Rollins

Sweet Home Family Medicine is pleased to welcome Bridget Shariat, DO. A family medicine provider, she will see patients of all ages who are established with the clinic. She is also accepting new obstetric and pediatric patients.

Shariat earned a bachelor’s degree from Belmont University and a medical degree from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She did a family medicine residency with the University of Colorado, and she joins Samaritan from a family practice clinic in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

She enjoys helping women explore their options for birth control and family planning. Her other interests and skills include skin lesion removals and suturing.

“I love meeting new people and discussing preventive health with them,” Shariat said. “I value listening and getting to know someone over time. Trust will come and I feel my job is to educate and give all options for patients to make good decisions about their own health.”

Shariat chose Samaritan because of the organization’s commitment to family and rural medicine, as well as its location near the Cascades.

“I wanted to be near the mountains again after training in Colorado,” she said. “Being near the coast is a bonus.”

In her free time, Shariat enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking and exploring Oregon with her dogs.
