The 2016 Mullins Charitable Event, Golf Giddyup & Barbeque Hoedown, raised $223,000 for health care-related causes throughout Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties.
Held in late August, the event drew a sellout 144 players to the golf tournament at Mallard Creek Golf Course and 300 people to the dinner at the Boulder Falls Center in Lebanon.
The $223,000 collected is the largest amount raised through the event’s history. Since the 2015 event, the fund has distributed more than $350,000 to a large number of organizations in Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties. The organizations have included:
- ABC House for Trauma Counseling
- Albany General Hospital Foundation funds for Sarah’s Place treatment center for survivors of sexual violence
- CASA of Linn County
- Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation’s Mullins Healthy Children’s Fund and Larry A. Mullins Endowed Scholarship Fund
- Lilly’s Lope for Hope - Suicide Awareness Run
- Larry A. Mullins Endowed Scholarship for Health Care Education, which has provided scholarships to six students total in 2015 and 2016
- Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation funds for the future Samaritan Treatment & Recovery Services facility
- Mental Health First Aid Training for more than 300 participants in Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties
- North Lincoln Hospital Foundation funds for a mental health room in that hospital’s new Emergency Department
- Pacific Communities Hospital Foundation funds for a mental health room in that hospital’s new Emergency Department
- Philomath Middle School – HERO Challenge (Helping Everyone Respect Others)
- Philomath School District – Mindfulness Fundamentals Training
- Philomath Youth Activities Club
- Samaritan Early Learning Center
- Samaritan Mental Health for a phone application that will provide information about the signs and symptoms of mental illness as well as connections to national and local resources
- Samaritan Veterans Outreach Program
- Teen Summit – Benton County
- Western University of Health Sciences COMP-Northwest – Scholarships
