Integrated Body Fitness, or iFitness, has reached an agreement to transition ownership to Samaritan Health Services, effective Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016. Samaritan will soon begin work to transform the fitness center into a state-of-the-art, 24-hour, seven-day-a-week SamFit facility. This work is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Until then, hours of access, membership dues, classes and all other services will remain largely the same.
"We are excited to work directly with the current Integrated Body Fitness team to make this transition as smooth as possible with the best interest of the current members in mind,” said Alyssa Wink, director of Fitness and Wellness at Samaritan. “We respect what iFitness has been able to accomplish alongside the Newport community. Our objective is to continue along that same path while adding new programs and facility upgrades to improve the offerings available to current and new members.”
Upgrades will include building renovations, some new equipment and a variety of new health and wellness services that will provide a modern environment to help members reach their health and fitness goals.
“Samaritan Health Services is committed to providing exceptional services to this community, which includes preventive health, fitness and wellness services at a nominal rate,” said David Bigelow, chief executive officer for Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. “SamFit’s mission is to provide self-empowerment to Samaritan employees and community members so that they can make lifestyle changes to improve their overall health.”
