Lebanon Hospital Foundation Awards Scholarships

The Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation, Girod Scholarship Committee, Easton Scholarship Committee and Dinges Scholarship Committee are pleased to announce seven winners of their respective scholarships for the 2017-18 academic year.

The Girod Committee awarded four scholarships this year for a total of $14,000. Winners are:

  • Amanda Emmert, at COMP-Northwest

  • Laurene Reed, at COMP-Northwest
  • Tysen Weber, Texas Tech Health Sciences Center

The late Frank Girod, MD, was one of the founding members of Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. His family awards this scholarship every year in his honor to students from east Linn County who are pursuing careers in medicine. This brings the total dollar amount of Girod Medical Scholarships awarded to $230,500 since 1998.

The family of the late Rachel Easton, a longtime nurse at Samaritan’s Park Street Clinic, awards the Rachel Easton, RN Scholarship each year in her honor to an east Linn County area student enrolled in a nursing program. This year’s scholarship went to Jordan Lewis of Scio, a nursing student at Linn-Benton Community College.

John and Carol Dinges of Lebanon award the Dinges Medical Scholarship every year to a graduate of a high school in east Linn County who is currently enrolled in an entry-level health career program at LBCC.

This year, the Dinges awarded two scholarships. One went to Betsy Carlson of Lebanon, who will enter the certified nursing program this fall at LBCC.  The second award went to Zach Powell of Crabtree, who will enter the diagnostic imaging program this summer.
