Dr. Luis Vela, upper extremity specialist and OSU team surgeon, will again join the OSU baseball team for the College Baseball World Series that begins this week in Omaha, Nebraska. Vela has provided care for the team since their back-to-back championship seasons in 2006 and 2007. Dr. Doug Aukerman, physician at Samaritan Athletic Medicine and Senior Associate Athletic Director for OSU Athletics, will join Dr. Vela on the trip.
Vela treats upper extremity injuries for OSU athletes from all sports, including treatment of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. For baseball pitchers and other throwing athletes, this includes surgical elbow reconstruction, commonly known as “Tommy John” surgery. Dr. Vela has successfully performed this surgery on many collegiate and semi-pro athletes throughout the Pacific Northwest.
An active supporter of OSU Athletics, Dr. Vela is excited to join the baseball team in Omaha.
