Samaritan Evergreen Hospice is offering a free, seven-week grief education and support group in Albany from Sept. 28 – Nov. 9 for adults who are grieving the loss of someone they love. Your loved one does not have to have died on hospice, and the loss does not have to be recent.
The group meets Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House, at 4600 Evergreen Place SE (on the corner of Waverly and Del Rio SE).
The grief education and support group provides participants the chance to meet with a small group of people who are also learning how to cope after the death of someone they love. Groups can provide support for coping with the challenges many people face while grieving.
Each session includes information on a particular aspect of grief and suggestions for coping with some of the changes many people experience after a death of a loved one. The group also provides people an opportunity to talk about their experiences in a confidential, supportive setting; and to hear from other people how they are adjusting.
There is no charge but registration and a brief phone interview with the facilitator are required. Participants are asked to commit to attending all of the sessions. For more information or to pre-register contact Virginia Tyler, LPC, at 541-812-4680.
