Diabetes Educator Receives Distinguished Service Award

Jamie Brown, Diabetes Education Manager for Samaritan Albany General Hospital, was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).

Brown received the award for her service to the organization for the past nine years, serving five years on the board of directors in addition to various volunteer roles. One of Brown’s most recent accomplishments with AADE is serving as co-leader of the 2017 Annual Conference titled Bringing Hope to Diabetes Care.

“It took a lot of organization. It was like planning a wedding,” Brown said excitedly of the event attended by more than 150 diabetes professionals. “The presenters were great. They spoke on topics like new approaches to helping patients, updates on food politics and policy, exercise and more.”

She looks forward to continuing to serve the organization and introducing other members to leadership roles.
