Marty Surface, DNP, recently joined Samaritan Health Services, providing supportive and palliative care services to patients in Linn County.
Surface earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University, a master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University and doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of Iowa.
Specializing in supportive and palliative care, Surface works with patients who have complex care needs, helping them with symptom control so that they can remain in their homes.
“I am looking forward to working with a program that helps people cope with their serious illnesses where they live,” said Surface. “So often when people hear palliative care they think of hospice, but palliative care and supportive services is about living as well as possible and is actually a very positive service.”
Surface, originally from the Midwest, loves the geography, temperate weather and culture of the Willamette Valley. In his free time, Surface enjoys spending time with his family, bird watching, traveling, classical music performances and gardening.
