Ridhmi Rajapakse, MD, recently joined Samaritan Kidney Specialists. She specializes in treating patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases, renal stones, renal transplants and complex high blood pressure problems.
Dr. Rajapakse earned a medical degree from Beijing Medical University. She studied neuroscience at the University of Hartford and completed residency training at York Hospital and fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine.
Dr. Rajapakse grew up in Sri Lanka, and chose to study medicine in a foreign language at a prestigious medical school in China. She practiced medicine in Sri Lanka for three years before coming to the United States. She was drawn to medicine and nephrology because she wanted to help people with complex medical issues.
“I am humbled to be able to uncover unique and difficult diagnoses in patients,” she said.
She takes a personalized approach to patient care and believes in empowering her patients with knowledge. She takes time to educate her patients about their health and medical conditions.
“The ability to show empathy, understand the plight of the patient, be sensitive to their situation and lead them through what might be one of the most difficult experiences of their life is rewarding,” she said.
Away from the office, Dr. Rajapakse enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and taking long walks.
Dr. Rajapakse is accepting new patients and referrals. Samaritan Kidney Specialists is based in Corvallis, and providers also see patients in Albany, Lebanon and Newport. For more information, call 541-768-6930.
