Little Red Hats Have a Big Message

Samaritan hospitals will send babies born during the month of February home with a red hat as part of a partnership with the Little Hats, Big Hearts™ campaign. The campaign, organized by the American Heart Association, raises awareness of congenital heart defects and symbolizes heart-healthy lives for everyone.

The national program has grown from collecting 300 hats in the first year to more than 200,000 hats, distributed nationwide, in 2018.

Red hats will be collected November through January each year and distributed in February as supplies allow.

Knitters are asked to send all red hats to the local American Heart Association office, where they will wash, repackage and distribute to local hospitals.
