Samaritan Health Services is honored to care for those who have served our country.
Samaritan Veterans Outreach provides military veterans and their families with resources, support and advocacy for optimal physical and mental health and social well-being. Our veterans navigator offers assistance with enrolling in health insurance and submitting claims through the Department of Veteran Affairs, and understanding the state and federal benefits available to veterans and their families.
Programs such as peer support groups, art workshops, veterans giving back volunteer projects and Mental Health First Aid trainings offer additional support to veterans and their families.
“It can be difficult to share some of the experiences you have while serving,” explained Kyle Hatch, veterans representative for Samaritan Veterans Outreach. “You want to enjoy your time with family, but you have memories that sometimes hinder those moments. Finding other ways to express those memories or feelings can allow you to process the experience.”
SamFit also offers veterans discounts on membership as well as services like personal training and health coaching. SamFit has equipment available for veterans with disabilities and offers a wide variety of classes to meet all skill levels and fitness goals.
Samaritan’s dedication to caring for veterans also extends to end-of-life care. Samaritan Evergreen Hospice offers We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Association and Veterans Affairs, which is designed to empower hospice professionals and volunteers to meet the unique needs of dying veterans. As a level-four partner, veterans are offered a pinning ceremony where they receive a certificate of appreciation with their area of service and a We Honor Veterans pin. A banner is placed on the outside of the veterans’ room to identify the military branch in which they served. During walk-outs, veterans are draped with a quilt of valor.
In addition to our commitment to care for patients, Samaritan, as one of the area’s largest employers, is committed to being a military-friendly employer. Samaritan provides training and support to veterans facing challenges while transitioning back into a civilian workplace. Samaritan is also a military-friendly spouse employer and recognized as a Military Friendly Brand.
