Samaritan Medical Supplies (SMS) stores are now offering continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) services in-person by appointment only at its three stores located in Corvallis, Lebanon and Newport. The Oregon State University campus location at 845 SW 30th St., Suite 200, will continue to offer store hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In mid-April, SMS closed its storefronts to the general public due to COVID-19 and the need to maintain required social distancing. Throughout the pandemic, SMS staff have continued to be available to answer patient questions and place supply orders by phone and email. Most medically necessary equipment can be delivered or mailed to patient homes minimizing any possible disruption in providing this important service.
"The safety of both our patients and employees is our top concern,” said Ryan Combs, chief operating officer for Samaritan Medical Supplies. “By offering appointments to minimize walk-in traffic, we are able to keep patients and employees safe, while still offering a personalized service."
Patients needing to be set up with their positive airway pressure (PAP) machines will be offered an appointment with a respiratory therapist. The appointment is available either in-person or through Samaritan’s telehealth program using online video.
"Samaritan Medical Supplies is dedicated to serving our patients and community in this time of need. We want to do all that we can to provide the medical equipment they need in the safest, most convenient way possible,” Combs said.
