Family Nurse Practitioner Cassie Slade has joined the Cardiology Department at Samaritan Heart Center.
She earned a bachelor’s degree at California State University, Sacramento and a doctoral degree in nursing at Augsburg University.
Slade worked as a nurse at a large medical center and in a cardiac intensive care unit, where she developed a passion for cardiology and integrative medicine. She focused her doctoral studies on complementary healing practices and transcultural nursing, writing her thesis on energy medicine yoga for migraine prevention.
“I am very open and interested in different ways of healing and living in the world,” she said. “I want to make a positive impact in the world and care for the well-being of my patients and co-workers. Being a nurse practitioner feels like that opportunity.”
Slade was impressed by the knowledge and professionalism of the clinicians and staff of Samaritan Heart Center. Samaritan’s values – passion, respect, integrity, dedication and excellence – are in line with her own.
“I love that we are willing to care for anyone who enters our doors,” she said.
In her free time, Slade enjoys teaching and practicing yoga, being outdoors, cooking, travel and spending time with friends and family.
She is accepting new patients and can be reached by calling Samaritan Heart Center at 541-768-5205.
