Leonel Trujillo, DO, has joined Albany OB/GYN. Dr. Trujillo provides general obstetrics and gynecological care. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery techniques using traditional laparoscopy and the da Vinci robotic-assisted surgical system.
Dr. Trujillo earned a bachelor’s degree from George Fox University, and a medical degree at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed residency training at AMITA Health Saint Francis Hospital, as well as an internship at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Before pursuing a medical degree, he worked as a nursing assistant and shadowed physicians in the United States and Central America.
“Those experiences inspired me as I observed and learned about the multiple opportunities that physicians have to improve people’s lives and their health,” he said.
Dr. Trujillo was drawn to obstetrics and gynecology because it combines the different aspects of medicine he enjoys most.
“I like to build relationships with my patients, and I enjoy using my hands as tools in the operating room,” he said.
During an internship in his first year of residency, Dr. Trujillo was introduced to Samaritan. He was impressed by the quality of care provided to patients and the supportive staff. Being an osteopathic physician shaped Dr. Trujillo’s approach toward patient care.
“Every individual is made of not only physical matter, but there’s also a psychological, emotional and spiritual component that make them who they are,” he said.
In his free time, Dr. Trujillo enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, running, swimming and enjoying the simple things in life.
He is accepting new patients and can be reached by calling 541-812-4850.
