Michael Kavur, DO, has joined Samaritan Mental Health - Albany.
He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at University of Tennessee and a medical degree at College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific‑Northwest. He completed residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Kavur specializes in transcranial magnetic stimulation, a noninvasive treatment for depression.
Before pursuing his medical studies, he was a high school teacher, and his students taught him about the importance of listening.
“Sometimes, people simply need to be heard,” he said. “I view medicine as a field ripe with opportunity to fulfill this basic human need.”
After attending medical school in Oregon, Dr. Kavur decided to settle here with his wife and children.
“I had many fond memories of the community, as well as the natural beauty of the area,” he said.
In his free time, Dr. Kavur enjoys spending time outdoors and working on carpentry and mechanical projects.
He is accepting new patients and can be reached at 541-812-5060.
