Physician Assistant Constance “Connie” Barthel has joined Samaritan Depoe Bay Clinic. She provides primary care for people ages 10 and older.
She earned a bachelor’s degree at University of Washington, completed the MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Training Program, and a master’s in physician assistant studies at University of Nebraska Medical Center.
After first working as a medical assistant, Barthel found that she enjoyed patient care and wanted to do more. Barthel offers minor in-office procedures, including skin biopsies, and treating cysts.
Barthel’s grandparents lived in Florence, and she loved to visit the dunes when she was a child. In more recent years, she lived on the coast when her husband was stationed in Depoe Bay with the U.S. Coast Guard.
“I’m a native Washingtonian, but my happy place has always been Depoe Bay,” she said. “I always thought that I would move here when I retired. Working at Samaritan Depoe Bay Clinic gives me the opportunity to be here sooner.”
In her free time, she enjoys being with family, especially her grandchildren, gardening, traveling, scuba diving and reading.
