Melanie Jackson, MD, has joined Samaritan Endocrinology. Dr. Jackson diagnoses and treats disorders and diseases of the endocrine system, including diabetes and thyroid conditions. She also sees patients at Samaritan Health Center – Newport and Samaritan Medical Group Endocrinology – Albany.
Dr. Jackson earned a bachelor’s degree at Oregon State University and a medical degree and fellowship in endocrinology at Oregon Health & Science University. She completed an internship and residency training at University of Washington - Boise.
Her interest in science, helping people and making a difference in her community led her to become an endocrinologist.
“Medicine is a great way to do that. My specialty provides opportunities for more patient education and lifestyle modifications and less of a top-down approach to health,” she said.
Dr. Jackson is motivated to help people reach their individual health goals and improve their quality of life.
Dr. Jackson grew up on the Oregon Coast and is excited to return to Corvallis where she attended college. She said she chose to work at Samaritan because of the commitment shown to patients and clinicians.
“I had always hoped to be able to provide care here,” she said.
In her free time, Dr. Jackson enjoys hiking with her family and gardening.
She is accepting new patients and can be reached by calling Samaritan Endocrinology at 541‑768‑7900.
