Licensed Clinical Social Worker Sharon Thwing has joined Samaritan Mental Health – Circle Blvd. She specializes in child and adolescent therapy and trauma-focused therapy.
She earned a bachelor’s degree at University of Arizona and a master’s degree in social work at Arizona State University.
Thwing uses a strengths-based approach that incorporates play.
“I strive to genuinely get to know, appreciate and respect the children and adolescents I work with and to help them develop healthy skills to deal with life challenges and concerns,” she said.
She describes her approach to therapy as “eclectic.”
“I do not believe one-size-fits-all,” Thwing said. “I believe positive changes can occur and feel privileged to be a part of someone’s journey to a more fulfilling life.”
She appreciates Samaritan’s values and the services it provides to the community.
Thwing has three adult children and a dog. She is new to Oregon.
“I am thrilled to live here and plan to explore all over the Pacific Northwest,” she said.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, sewing and being creative, as well as being in nature, hiking, camping and exploring.
