Samaritan Dietitian to Host Nutrition Seminar in Newport

Should you be worried about what’s in your food? Find out at an in-person wellness seminar hosted by Alesha Orton, registered dietitian and diabetes educator at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital, on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Center for Health Education in Newport.

The seminar will be held at two times, noon to 1:30 p.m. or 5:30 to 7 p.m. The same information will be shared at each session.

Orton will help participants get a better understanding of today’s food and their body with such topics as:

  • Marketing hype versus truth about what is in our food.
  • What ingredients or food practices we should be concerned about.
  • What focus we should have when looking at food for optimal health.

The Center for Health Education is located at 740 SW Ninth St., directly west of the Newport hospital. The seminar is free but registration is required by contacting Amy Conner at aconner@samhealth.org or 541-574-4952.
