Cold, wet weather seems to coincide with a variety of health concerns such as colds, bronchitis or sinus infections becoming worse. Fortunately, you can get the care you need anywhere, using your computer, tablet or smart phone.
“An E-Visit is a convenient option for minor ailments,” said Kristy Jessop, MD, of Samaritan Infectious Disease. “E-Visits allow you to find out what your symptoms mean and whether medication or other treatment is needed. All without leaving your home or office.”
With a MyChart E-Visit, you answer online questions about your health concerns and then connect with a Samaritan provider who can determine whether you need prescription medication or a referral to more specialized care. You must be signed up for the online, secure patient portal, MyChart, to do an E-Visit.
Many Health Issues Qualify for an E-Visit
- Cold, cough, flu.
- Sinus problems.
- Bronchitis.
- Back pain.
- Cold sore.
- Constipation, diarrhea.
- Rash, poison oak.
- Minor burns, sunburn.
- Pink eye.
- Urinary tract infections.
- Sore throat.
- Shingles.
- And more.
“While an E-Visit does not replace an annual check-up with your doctor, it can be a helpful solution for those times throughout the year when a minor illness hampers your day,” Dr. Jessop said.
The MyChart patient portal is a secure, convenient way to stay informed about your care, communicate with your health care providers, pay your bills and much more. Samaritan patients are welcome to sign up at samhealth.org/MyChart.
