Professional Development

Samaritan Health Services offers a variety of online and on-site training opportunities through its Professional Development Department to help employees continually develop their skills.

From polishing your customer service skills to learning CPR to a graduate nurse transition program and CNA2 training, you will find that lifelong learning and continuing education is a highly regarded value of Samaritan Health Services.

The value on personal development and continuing education is so high that Samaritan Health Services has arranged agreements with many reputable colleges and training programs, making it easier for employees to take advantage of Samaritan’s education reimbursement benefit.

Benefits Offered to Samaritan Employees

Benefits are an important part of every employee’s overall compensation and Samaritan Health Services offers a wide range of options so each employee may choose what is best for his or her individual needs. Benefits may vary depending on location, longevity, employment status and specific contracts with collective bargaining units.

Benefits Offered

Paid Time Off

  • Paid time off is designed to meet individual needs for time away from work. It is a consolidation of vacation, holiday and sick leave.

Health Insurance

  • Premiums may be paid on a pre-tax basis. This comprehensive benefit program offers medical, pharmacy, dental and vision.

Personal Choice Account

  • Use pre-tax dollars to pay for dependent care expenses, medical, dental and vision services, and employee insurance premiums.

Retirement Plan

  • For eligible employees, 4% contribution in defined contribution plan, plus additional 4% contribution for wages in excess of the Social Security taxable wage base up to the IRS annual compensation limit. Employee is 100% vested after 3 years. In addition, eligible employees can be matched up to 2% of their wages in an additional retirement plan. Employee is 100% vested in employer match after 2 years.

Life & Disability Insurance

  • Life insurance — a one-time payment of employee’s annual salary up to $100,000 maximum
  • Accidental death and dismemberment — 2 times annual salary up to $50,000 maximum
  • Long-term disability — 60% of employee’s monthly salary up to $5,000 maximum per month
  • Short-term disability — 5 voluntary plans available
  • Employees may purchase additional life insurance up to a maximum of $300,000 for the employee and eligible dependents
  • Additional AD&D insurance available

Education Reimbursement

  • Undergraduate and graduate classes are reimbursed at up to 75% (up to a yearly maximum of $4,000) for tuition and books. Available to employees who work at least half time.

Employee Wellness Program

  • Employees are reimbursed for participating in approved health-related classes, gym memberships and activities up to the yearly maximum of $300.

Employee Assistance Program

  • Confidential counseling services for employees and their immediate family members.
  • Consumer Credit Counseling — debt management counseling services
  • Family Connections — child care and elder care referral services

Employee Discounts

  • As an employee you are provided with special discount opportunities offered by various businesses including, but not limited to, cell phone service providers, hotels, sporting events, health and beauty services, and more throughout Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties.
  • Employees also enjoy a discount at all Samaritan Health Services cafeterias and on over-the-counter medications in Samaritan’s retail pharmacies.

  • Additional AD&D insurance available
  • Long-term care insurance -- $1500 monthly benefit in a LTC facility or 50% professional home & community care for 3 year duration.  Employee may purchase additional coverage or cover spouse/domestic partner on a voluntary basis.
  • Critical illness, accident, whole life, and air ambulance coverage are offered on a voluntary basis
