Thank You for Your Interest in Volunteering

Samaritan Health Services is committed to engaging volunteers in meaningful roles that enhance our service and add value to the patient and family experience. Our goal is to make sure volunteers are well-placed, trained and supported. We appreciate your desire to help us build healthier communities together.

To volunteer, you must be at least 15 years of age, make a minimum six-month commitment and volunteer at least once per week for 2 to 4 hours. Please be sure to evaluate your availability to volunteer before making an application.

The process:

1. Complete the online application. The application can also be downloaded if you prefer to mail it in.

2. The reference form link (samhealth.org/Reference) can be emailed to your references. These forms must be completed by individuals outside your family (friends, teachers/professors, work associates.) Reference forms can also be downloaded if you prefer to mail them in.

3. Your local volunteer coordinator will call to schedule an interview as openings become available. Time to first placement will be based on availability of openings.

  • At the interview, you will receive information, review service descriptions and schedules, and be asked to sign a Criminal Background check consent form. We will review your skills and interests.
  • Applications will be considered complete only when all forms are received. This includes your application, two references and the criminal records check consent/authorization form.
  • When a volunteer assignment has been determined, you will receive a packet of information which will include required training, confidentiality and medical forms.

3. Orientation session times vary by location and are required.

  • Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center: Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Samaritan Albany General Hospital: Varies
  • Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital: Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
  • Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital: Varies
  • Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital: Varies
  • Samaritan Evergreen Hospice: Varies

4. You will have a two-step tuberculin test and complete a Volunteer Medical Information form with Employee Health.

5. You will have your picture taken for an identification badge.

6. You will be trained in your area of service.

For questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your local volunteer coordinator.

Again, thank you for your interest in volunteering. Your work as a volunteer contributes greatly to our patients, our employees and the hospital.
