Welcome to Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation

The Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation is committed to supporting Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, its patients and their loved ones, as well as the health and well-being of those who live and work in the community.

Since our inception in 1975, we have helped to fund medical equipment for the hospital, enhance program services, provide financial support for patient and community wellness programs, and help low-income individuals obtain medical care. We cannot do this without the generous contributions from our hospital staff, friends, neighbors and businesses. For this, we are truly grateful!

For more information, please contact Karen Shaw, vice president and chief development officer, at kshaw@samhealth.org.

Women Investing in Samaritan Health (WISH)

Since 2004, local women have been supporting the health care needs of area women and children and celebrating the growing impact of women as philanthropists. Working with the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, these women are a part of WISH, which features two major components:

  • Collective philanthropy: Each participant donates an equal amount to a fund, which is distributed to local projects that benefit women and children for patient care provided by Samaritan. WISH participants develop fund distribution criteria, investigate projects firsthand and award funds personally with the help of the foundation.
  • Education and celebration events: The group gathers at least once a year for an event designed to educate, empower, and inspire.

In 2018, WISH funded requests totaling $97,319, including:

  • CenterPregnancy, a new model of group prenatal care that brings together diverse women and families to foster community and facilitate patient education
  • Lymphedema compression garments to control swelling after cancer surgery and treatment
  • A Noelle Childbirth Simulator and Newborn Anne (neonatal resuscitation mannequin) and two infant intubation trainers to provide staff and residents with trainings and assessments for the best possible patient and family outcomes
  • NeoBlue phototherapy, a portable, high intensity phototherapy light system to treat newborn jaundice
  • The remodel of two post-partum bathrooms at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, including flooring throughout the room

Membership levels:

  • $250 up to age 45
  • $500 age 46+

10 percent of membership contributions are placed in an endowment, the earnings of which will be used to help support funding requests in the future.
