Specialized Care for People Living With Serious Illness

If you or a loved one is experiencing a serious illness, specialized medical care is available. This care is focused on providing relief from symptoms, pain and stress. The goal is to improve quality of life for both you and your caregivers. 

Palliative care is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, and can be provided together with curative treatment.

Palliative Care Services

Inpatient services are available at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Samaritan Albany General Hospital and Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.

Samaritan Palliative Care Community-based Program provides in-home visits and support to patients with congestive heart failure who live in Linn County.

Outpatient services are available at Samaritan Medical Group Palliative Care - Lincoln City.

A team of health care professionals includes:

  • A physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant and/or nurse works collaboratively with your medical team to addresses symptoms associated with serious illness. They also help you to explore your hopes and concerns, so your treatment plan matches your personal goals.
  • A social worker assists you with emotional and social issues and gets you connected with vital resources at the hospital and in the community. 
  • A chaplain offers spiritual support for you and your loved ones according to your faith-based needs.
