This workshop will discuss the positive communication efforts and affirming positive affirmations around being Black. We will also discuss how to avoid Black put-downs and help children understand and cope with racism.

Topics include:

  • African Heritage.
  • Courage/Achievements of African People.
  • Strengths of Black Families.
  • Unique Black Customs and Language.

About the presenter: Terrance I. Harris, M.Ed, has over 10 years of experience as a higher ed professional along with eight years of experience as a peer educator, parent coach, and tobacco cessation specialist. He instructs parenting courses for Linn & Benton Counties and is certified through the Effective Black Parenting program.

This class is offered in-person and online. To attend the presentation virtually, you will need access to an internet device with a camera and microphone. A Zoom Link and password information will be provided at time of registration.
