This weekly five-session course helps expectant women and their partners prepare for upcoming labor and birth, as well as the first few weeks after birth.

Through discussion, DVD, PowerPoint and demonstration, expectant parents will learn:

  • How the partner can support the pregnant and birthing mom

  • Some floor exercises to learn to strengthen your body in preparation for child birth
  • Comfort measures during labor and variations in labor
  • The procedure of Cesarean birth
  • Benefits and risks of medication and medical interventions during labor and childbirth
  • Evaluating options and communicating with your health care provider
  • Hospital facilities and procedures
  • Breastfeeding, care and bonding
  • Preparing for returning to work
