Teen girl prepares food in the kitchen

Does your child think cooking means pressing a button on a microwave? You may want to consider sending them to a Cooking Matters Teen Cooking Class.

Youth ages 12 to 17 are invited to this free class series where they will practice cooking skills while preparing tasty recipes. The six-week series will be held on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 8, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at The Ridge apartments in Lincoln City.

Along with learning safe and fun kitchen techniques and trying interesting new recipes, participants will eat the dishes they prepare and bring food home with them each week.

Class size is limited, and registration is required.

This teen cooking class is presented by Cooking Matters, Food Share of Lincoln County and Samaritan Health Services, through the Coast to the Cascades Community Wellness Network. The Network offers grant-funded Culinary Health Education & Fitness (CHEF) programs in Lincoln, east Linn and rural Benton counties.
