The existence of emergencies is as old as medicine itself, but emergency medicine as a specialty is relatively young.
Join McKaila Allcorn, DO, Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital Emergency Department, in this Samaritan Foundations MedTalk. She will trace the beginnings of emergency medicine, from the back-basement door of the hospital to the modern specialty service we recognize today.
Dr. Allcorn obtained her doctorate from Oklahoma State University, and left her lifelong home in the Sooner State to complete an emergency medicine residency at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. She and her husband Heston then settled in Lincoln City after residency. When Dr Allcorn isn’t working, she enjoys chasing her two children, playing tennis, reading and cooking with her husband.
