Are you in pain and ready to make a change? Are you dealing with arthritis, old injuries, changes with age and pain conditions? Are you frustrated, scared or confused about your pain? If so, then MAPS might be right for you. Talk to your primary care provider today about getting referral for this program.

MAPS is an 8-week complete pain program, one-on-one and in a group, with occupational or physical therapists. It combines the latest research of approaches to pain: movement, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), pain science education and value of self compassion. The program answers questions about what pain is and how management of your sleep, activity, diet and stress can impact it. It will teach you how to get to the drug cabinet in the brain.

Movement

Gentle and safe movement. Indoor and outdoor activities that fit your lifestyle.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

This helps us to anchor our bodies and keeps us safe. It also keeps us calm and helps us be present in the current moment. Self compassion is a skill we use to manage the body’s nervous system. We use simple strategies to separate from thoughts and accept emotions. We help you identify values and commit to actions that are meaningful to you.

Pain Science

You will be empowered and learn the meaning of pain, how pain is a protector, acknowledge the multiple contributors to pain and why pain can continue long term. You will learn ways to master pain and live a life in line with your values and actions.
