The SAM

MATRIX at The SAM is led by physical therapists using an evidence-based progression of foundational movement patterns transitioning to sport-specific drills. This class is for anyone in the community who has suffered a lower body injury, including ACL reconstruction. The goal is to teach safe and efficient movement patterns, incorporating sport-specific drills and training to return you to the sport activities you love. The program is broken into three phases to meet specific individual needs and safely progress clients to higher level activities. This program is led by physical therapists trained in sports residency.

This program is ideal for:

  • Individuals recovering from injury to be used in conjunction with formal rehabilitation.
  • Individuals wanting to improve the way they move to stay safe in sport activities.

Classes are held two times a week in three phases:

  • Phase 1 - Foundation Building (Basic) - $120/month: Learning how to get into an athletic stance, balance activities, proprioception challenges, and basic strengthening drills. Preparation for jumping and hopping in phase 2.
*Prior to initiating program must be able to perform a lunge*
  • Phase 2 - Restoration (Intermediate) - $120/month: Apply strength and coordination with running, jumping and bounding activities; incorporating moving in and out of an athletic position with speed and impact. Preparation for cutting and agility in phase 3.
  • Phase 3 - Recondition (Advanced) - $140/month: Prepare for return to sport with agility, plyometrics, power and strength exercises. Athletes will be ready for full resumption of sport participation at pre-injury level or beyond. Preparation for returning to sport.

Email Jenny Neudorfer, DPT, ATC at jneudorfer@samhealth.org to request a MATRIX evaluation. The evaluation will identify which phase is best for you.

MATRIX is a cash-based program and is not covered by insurance. Participation in this program does not count against any authorized physical therapy visits.
