Clinical Interests:
Dr. Downey provides a full-spectrum of care for heart-rhythm problems, including atrial fibrillation and flutter, bradycardia, tachycardia and other rhythm abnormalities, and offers a wide variety of electrophysiology procedures including testing, ablations, implantation of cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators and more. He specializes in lead extractions – removal of a wire that delivers energy from a pacemaker or implantable cardioverter defibrillator to the heart muscle, as well as a relatively new method of connecting heart devices to the heart muscle where the pacing wires are implanted directly into the heart’s conduction system.

In his free time, Dr. Downey enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, camping, backpacking, gardening and staying physically fit.
