Dr. Merritt promotes physical and emotional health by encouraging healthy lifestyles, and uses a holistic approach to health care. He enjoys seeing babies as they grow in their families.
Dr. Merritt has been a professor of pediatrics and neonatology for 30 years, and he served in the United States Public Health Service and the U.S. Army Reserve.
He has been named one of the best doctors in America by “Best Doctors in America,” a professional organization that rates physician excellence. In 2003, Dr. Merritt was named by the Oregon Medical Association as the Citizen Physician of the Year. He was appointed to the Oregon Commission for Children and Families from 2001 to 2006, and has consulted for several state and federal agencies on neonatal and pediatric topics.
In his free time, he enjoys medical writing, gardening, hiking, photography and fishing. Dr. Merritt and his wife have two grown sons, both physicians.
