T.J. was born and raised in Eastern Oregon, where he first developed his love for human movement and exercise through competing in football, swimming, track and field, distance running, triathlons, adventure races, mixed martial arts and dance.

T.J. found personal accomplishment in the skill development and training these sports required. In 2010, he started teaching group fitness classes and become a certified personal trainer. Looking to expand his skill set and increase his impact, he then enrolled in college at Oregon State University, where he earned his degree in Kinesiology. While at OSU, T.J. taught and coached both students and staff in swimming, weight lifting, cardio dance and kickboxing.

T.J. joined Samaritan Health Services in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department, as a student intern. This experience fostered a love for working with the elderly population and motivated T.J. to become a health & fitness specialist for older adults. After graduation, T.J. completed a specialty certification to become a Weight Management Specialist, and he now works as a Health & Fitness Specialist at SamFit, where he is fulfilling his higher purpose of building healthier communities with the SamFit team.
