Vien earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of the Pacific. He pursued his sports physical therapy residency training at Gundersen Health Systems where he was mentored by physical therapists who have been key contributors to return-to-sports testing research. He completed a fellowship in Division 1 Sports Physical Therapy at Wake Forest University where he rehabbed athletes across 17 different sports including football, basketball and soccer.
His research interests include clinical manifestation of neuroplastic changes after ligamentous injuries, social determinants of health, social justice in healthcare and performance training principles in rehabilitation. He has presented at state, regional and national conferences for both the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). He serves as the TeamMates Lead Coordinator and as a member of the Diversity, Ethnicity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee for the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy (AASPT).
Originally from California, Vien has enjoyed returning to the west coast as he explores all the outdoors activities and food that Oregon has to offer.
