Clinical Trials, Close to Home
Samaritan aims to provide cutting edge care close to home. Our portfolio of clinical trials is one of Oregon’s most comprehensive outside of major metropolitan areas.
Research Institute
The Research Institute at Samaritan Health Services provides an infrastructure that supports clinical trials, health research and the development and evaluation of community-based programs, which aims to prevent disease and promote community health.
Human Protection
The Samaritan Health Services Regional Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews proposed research protocols to protect human subjects involved in research. The primary purpose of the IRB is to protect the rights and welfare of patients who choose to take part in human subject’s research.
The IRB is responsible for the following:
- The review and approval of applications to conduct research involving human subjects.
- Continuing review of approved protocols.
- Monitoring of reported adverse events involving subjects in approved protocols
