Our Medication Management Services

  1. Long term monitoring of the ‘blood thinner’ warfarin (Coumadin®). Please watch the instructional video below to learn more about this medication. The clinic will also assist you if you need to stop the medication for invasive procedures and determine if bridging therapy with enoxaparin is needed. The pharmacist will help coordinate this with the provider prescribing the warfarin and the provider doing the procedure. The pharmacist also will provide assessment and education regarding the newer oral anticoagulants such as apixaban or rivaroxaban.
  2. Anemia management with erythropoietin if you have kidney disease or myelodysplastic syndrome and if referred to us by a Samaritan provider. We will order the necessary laboratory tests and coordinate the needed steps with insurance. The medication is administered in the clinic. If iron is needed, this will be either ordered in oral form or arranged intravenously at the infusion center.
  3. Other chronic diseases managed by the pharmacist include diabetes, high blood pressure, COPD and asthma. This can occur if we have a referral from your Samaritan provider and your provider will be notified of visits and medication adjustments.

Medication Assistance Program

The Samaritan Medication Assistance Program provides over $250,000 per month of free prescription drugs to those who have no medication insurance and are unable to afford the cost of their medications. This program is only available to patients of Samaritan Health Services-affiliated providers. For more information, call 1-800-255-8165.

Samaritan pharmacies in Corvallis and Albany provide over $16,000 per month of free prescription medication to patients of In-Reach clinic in Albany and Community Outreach clinic in Corvallis.

Personal Medical Information

Samaritan Health Services physician clinics and pharmacies are now distributing Personal Medication Information cards to help patients keep track of their current medications. The Personal Medical Information card is a chart to help you and your family members keep a current record of information that physicians need to know to ensure safe and complete medical treatment. This record includes immunizations, allergies, prescribed medications, and any vitamins, herbal supplements or over-the-counter medicines.

Residency in Pharmacy Practice

Samaritan’s Residency in Pharmacy Practice at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center teaches newly licensed pharmacists how to provide clinical pharmacy services. The program includes rotations in many areas of hospital and outpatient pharmacy practices.

Specialty Pharmacy

Through our Specialty Pharmacy services, we can deliver certain specialty medications to your door, and we will partner with your health care team to manage your refills and monitor your lab work to make sure the medications are keeping you on the right path.
